What I Did
I as a UI/UX designer need to work since the beginning of the project starting from
which each step have a Business Unit and Designer Lead to review before deliver.
First, we understand the problem. We begin by looking at the main goals of the project (“release epics”). Then, we map out how a user currently does a task (“draft task flow”) and their experience today (“draft As-is customer journey”). We can also do extra research by looking at existing information or similar products.
Next, we find a solution. We brainstorm with the product and business teams to create the ideal future experience for the user (“Ideate To-be customer journey”).
Then, we design it. We create a basic map of the user’s path through the product (“user flow”) and build simple layouts called “wireframes.” We might do a quick test with users to see if our ideas work.
Finally, we get it approved. We show our designs to the business team and other key people for their feedback and approval. Once everyone agrees, we finalize the design and get it ready for the development team to build.
Customer Journey Map. It’s a diagram that shows every step a user takes with a product or service. A key feature of this map is that for each step, we also include what our competitors' products look like.
What do we get from it? We get a clear picture of our entire user journey. By directly comparing our experience with our competitors, we can find our weak points, highlight our strengths, and discover opportunities to make our product more competitive and better than theirs.
